South Gilliam County Health District, a special district, was created in 1980 by the voters to provide medical services and facilities in the district. Since that time the district has made huge strides in providing excellent healthcare for our community. In 2022, the district, with the support of Gilliam County, researched and made the decision to begin providing public health services under the umbrella of South Gilliam County Health District. The district has partnered with a dental health provider and the community mental health provider for Gilliam County for several years, and both rent space and provide their services in the same building that the medical and public health services are provided. The district has also committed to updating clinic facilities and equipment over the years and opened a Wellness Center in 2014 that provides the community with a workout center. The community can receive a variety of services in one location and providers are able to offer more holistic care.
South Gilliam Health Center, a Rural Health Clinic, operated by South Gilliam County Health District, serves the healthcare needs of patients in Condon as well as many surrounding areas. The clinic is currently open from 7:30am to 6:00pm Monday through Thursday and 8:00am to noon on Fridays. We have two PAs who work a staggered schedule but both work full days on Tuesdays through Thursdays and see approximately 8-10 patients each. Through public health, we are also able to employ a Registered Nurse who helps on the clinical side with lab draws and other direct clinical services. The schedule is typically blocked for at least one same day appointment per day in order to accommodate urgent patient needs. One of the PAs can do limited ultrasounds while the other can provide some x-ray services.
The district is proud of the services it provides for our rural community and feels that the holistic are offered is paramount to improved health outcomes. The board as well as the staff believe in meeting patient healthcare needs.
